Clinton wins in Puerto Rico, CNN projects

Sen. Hillary Clinton will win Puerto Rico's Democratic primary by a wide margin, CNN projects, giving her the larger share of the territory's 55 delegates.
As polls closed, it was too early to determine the exact margin of victory.
Clinton's campaign has been arguing that a landslide victory would push her ahead in the popular vote and help her convince superdelegates to pick her instead of Sen. Barack Obama.
To cross that threshold, she would need to win 65 percent of the vote with a turnout of at least 2 million people.
But Luis Hector, an elections official, said only 1.5 million ballots were printed.
CNN estimates turnout will be between 325,000 and 425,000.
"Most people in Puerto Rico, I would venture to guess, they are not even aware that there's a primary going on," said Luis Pabón-Roca, a local political analyst.
He said the political atmosphere on the island this week is subdued compared to the fever that sweeps the island before local elections.
Some poll workers in small towns started abandoning the polling stations because turnout was so low, he said.
Part of the reason for the lack of interest, he said, is because voters feel the primary isn't meaningful since Puerto Ricans cannot vote in the general election.
The Democratic and Republican parties run the primaries and caucuses, and they allow U.S. territories, such as the commonwealth of Puerto Rico, to take part in the process.

Just because 30 people gave away the votes of 600,000 does not mean he won. It is a sad day when voters cast their ballot and 30 people decide to take their votes and give them to another candidate and call it comprise for the good of the party. BULL!! This is a huge step backward for our Nation. And in Florida, we are now reduced to being only worth 1/2 a person. Seems we already fought for the right to vote and have them counted. What a disgrace!! AND they think we will unite in the Fall if Obama is the nominee. NO!! He is Chicago styoe politics and surrounds himself with terrorists and anti-American people spewing hate on whites and women. I will vote for McCain!!

If O'Bama cannot deal with his congregation, how will he deal with racism as president?

Is the DNC forcing us to elect McCain?

The Obama camp should be the one's up in arms over Michigan and Florida. They played by the rules. Hillary has fundamentally changed her position on those states and in doing so has whipped up a totally false sense of outrage over voters somehow being disenfranchised after the event. THIS IS NOT THE CASE! This is polarising people and entrenching positions. Myths and false information are becoming hard facts in the minds of many and it will be hard to persuade people otherwise come November unless the party unites soon and without equivocation. You have 2 outstanding candidates here, rally behind whoever wins the nomination according to the rules and then campaign to change those rules for next time if you feel that the nomination selection process is wrong.

Wackiekat2, WAKE UP!!!!
30 People did not decide the nominee, the people did! Is it so hard to believe that Obama supporters out number clinton suporters?? Clinton doesn't have the majority of either delegates, super delagates, or the popular vote. Clinton is counting votes from states that did not abide by the rules. If they wanted their votes to be counted properly, the proper course should/ve been taken. Don't get upset with Obama for someone else's mistakes. If the shoe were on the other foot, Clinton would fight tooth and nail, NOT to give your votes ANY credit.

If your ignorance allows you to vote for McCain, I feel sorry for you and you also surrender any right to complain when our economy worsens and more of our soldiers are lost.

When you vote for McCain...the war in Iraq will
continue and more American sons and daughters will continue to be killed. McCain knows that in order to keep fighting the Bush war and others, the draft will have to be put in place. This will allow McCain to select our sons and send them to fight wars.
