What happened to Obama's massive network of grassroots activists?
Added 103 days ago on October 29th, 2009
It wasn't supposed to be this way. The reason was Organizing for America. Last year, after winning the presidency, Obama decided to keep intact the backbone of his stunningly efficient, innovative campaign. Previous presidents had outsourced their activism to interest groups; Obama was going to create his own. OFA was supposed to be a new kind of permanent campaign: a grassroots network wielding some 13 million email addresses to mobilize former volunteers on behalf of the administration's agenda (and keep them engaged for 2012). "We've never had a political leader who has continued their organizing while in office like this at this scale," Tom Matzzie, former Washington director of MoveOn, told NPR in January. As right-wing protesters dominated the news this summer, it would have seemed the perfect opportunity for Obama's much-touted organizers to drown out the conservatives with some coordinated agitation of their own. But they barely made a ripple. Where were they? And how could such a formidable grassroots operation-having just put Obama in office-fall quiet so quickly?

Re: What happened to Obama's massive network...
James2044, I agree. Let me add that he only beat Hillary by 40,000 votes. And only a few million over McCain. Everyone knows ACORN was accused of a lot of voter fraud in many states since before 2008 through to this year, and so many times last year they were caught in voter fraud that might have been too late to fix the damage they had done, so it's pretty obvious to me that he became president through the help of the fraud. And as I should explain this b/c there's always an idiot out there - Yes a lot of people voted for him but the push that came from voter fraud gave the extra votes to get him in. ACORN had been working on this for years. He used to work for them. He used to do "get out the vote" organizing. He probably b.s.ed them and kissed thei butt so they could help him get into the presidency and now when federal funds were taken away they probably thought to themselves, "where is Obama? why is he not helping us? after all we did for him?" Obama knew he could not defend them with all those videos comng out and so many in Congress wanting to cut their fiunds. Hopefully, ACORN is so mad at him, that he has lost a lot of their votes for 2012. He's been slowly but surely losing potential votes for 2012. i hope everyone realizes what a mistake he was to be president. And btw, taking so long to make decison on the added troops? No military experience, no foreign affairs experience and no backbone.
