Newt’s Faulty Food-Stamp Claim
Made popular 512 days ago in
Politics
factcheck.org —
Newt Gingrich claims that “more people have been put on food stamps by Barack Obama than any president in American history.” He’s wrong. More were added under Bush than under Obama, according to the most recent figures.
The former speaker made that claim Jan. 16 in a Republican debate in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and his campaign organization quickly inserted the snippet in a new 30-second TV ad that began running Jan. 18 in South Carolina.

Facts don't mean anything to Newt, he writes his own history. Remember he's a historian.

Look at the statistics and the facts. Your boy is the "Food stamp President". After three years he owns it all so you tards need to start manning up and accepting the rightful blame for the economy that you so richly deserve.

Yes I do rate my own post, as you should too.
You're missing the point Bush put more people on food stamps even during good times.

@ffox Blah, blah, blah! I suppose the reason this Nation isn't still under England's king is Bush's fault too. Face it. Obobo is KING of food stamps. Plant your seeds of doubt if you must, but facts are facts and you are WRONG as a matter of fact. Bush wasn't the greatest and I had my issues with him, but if he were still in today, we would be growing unlike your "do no wrong king" you have anointed. End of this year, he's gone!

@ffox,
I wannano, why didn't you include the statistics in the post. You had more than enough room.
For those who might be interested, in 8 years under Bush, 14.7 million food stamp recipients were added. In less than 3 years, Obama added 14.2 million. If that trend continues, Obama will end his ONLY term with 19 million added. This is like a baseball player hitting 70 home runs by the end of may and about 100 for before the All Star Game..
I don't even want to speculate what another four years would do to our country, but I will. If the current Obama trend continues through a second term, God Forbid, there would be 38 million food stamp recipients added during his presidency, versus the 14.7 million in Bush's.
Gingrich was more than correct.

@ffox, it's good to know that at least you admit these are not good times. We'll all remember that in November!

Bush took 8 years, Obama got it done in 3! Do we really want to give him the chance to shatter the record?

I'll tell you what's faulty. THIS post and the morons that plant this bogus info. Pull your head out and smell the obobo defeat.
I wonder what would happen if you set up a place where all the liberals will go under a bobo government. They would all die. No one would work and they would kill each other and take what wasn't theirs including food stamps. No one would work so no one would exist to earn their keep.

In you're in denial.
It must be tough when you can't find any real data to support your claim

Bush 11,000,000 in EIGHT years
Obama 18,000,000 in three years, Obama is on pace to add 45,000,000 if he gets a second term.

Gingrich would have been correct to say the number now on food aid is historically high. The number stood at 46,224,722 persons as of October, the most recent month on record. And it's also true that the number has risen sharply since Obama took office.
But Gingrich goes too far to say Obama has put more on the rolls than other presidents. We asked the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food and Nutrition service for month-by-month figures going back to January 2001. And they show that under President George W. Bush the number of recipients rose by nearly 14.7 million. Nothing before comes close to that.
