infowars.com — Talking surveillance cameras that bark orders at passers-by and can also record conversations are heading for U.S. streets, with manufacturer Illuminating Concepts announcing the progress of its ‘Intellistreets’ system......The street lights also have loudspeakers that can give audible warnings to individuals, ...(and to) shout out orders through microphones telling people to pick up litter or leave the area.
The announcement confirms that the street lights will have a number of “homeland security features” including a loudspeaker system that will be used to “engage captive audiences”.
“The built-in speaker can broadcast emergency information,” states the press release, adding, “SmartSite luminaires can be equipped with a variety of cameras and sensors to ensure real-time 24/7-security coverage. The sensors detect a variety of threats that enable rapid response from emergency personnel or help prevent crime and gain control of the streets.”
The press release adds that the SmartSite system developed to operate the ‘Intellistreets’ surveillance hubs is intended not only for street lighting but also for “retail malls, sports venues, on college campuses, and in new construction,” and “might well become commonplace” in the near future..... When you comment please remember:
BO has not stopped the TSA from fondling testicals: Heraldo Rivera, a congressman, the latest Henry Kissinger; or inserting fingers into vaginas - too many testimonials to count here - humiliating the handicapped - and putting their hands between the underwear and skin of countless small children with only the crime of wanting to fly somewhere.
BO in his "care" program forces seniors to annually be counseled on why they should not do things to extend their lives (ie end of life counseling).
BO has not seen fit to ask for a repeal of the light bulb law and so endangered our homes with mercury so poisonous a hazmet team must be called in if they break.
BO has repeatedly tried to pass legislation to censor the internet.
BO has also repeatedly harassed people with the IRS and TSA for the crime of donating to his opposition or disagreeing publicly with him.
BO's administration has now jailed people for drinking milk from their own cows.
I could go on and on. If you voted yes and care to add to the list of nanny/big brother intrusions feel free to do so.

Free, I wasn't a member during Bush era. You missed my previous post to AUpolls. I'm a libertarian, you just assume republican.

AUpolls, anyone who has to resort to belittling others in their comments does so because they can't make a cogent remark on the subject at hand. Therefore, when one can't think of how to reply one uses either profanity or attempts to put down the other person to make oneself feel superior.

Seems I'm constantly reminding people this is a discussion forum. Not a name calling forum. LightD and LBE get my chiding too, so don't think it's just you guys.

@grand libertarian my a**, your as libertarian as the libertarians who are on fox news. Real libertarians want less government involvement in all aspects of law including marriage, abortion and even drugs. most real libertarians support legalization of marijuana, allowing a woman the right to choose without government getting in the way and getting government out of the business of what people do in their bedrooms. You, old lady, are a conservative libertarian-wannabe Republican. Belittling someone? You do it all the time to the president and other democrats... even those you don't agree with online. If you can't take it don't dish it.

AU, you really shouldn't assume things. Abortion, after watching a friend with an anacelephic baby being forced to carry to term in the early 70's I was profoundly affected. You are wrong on that one AU. Drugs, I don't even think we should have to have prescriptions for antibiotics or anything else that doesn't require a physician's oversight to use (such as antipsychotics). You forget I was a child of the 60's. However, I do think the DUI should be enforced as rigorously for all types of drugs/alcohol. Wrong on another one AU. Where did you ever see me say otherwise? Marriage, was just discussing that today, why should we care what people decide to do as long as it doesn't harm others. Oops sorry again AU, ever seen me write otherwise? Anyway, just because I'm older young people automatically assume I'd have those attitudes, it's generational prejudice.

Yes, I totally think BO and the Dems want to control as many aspects of our lives as possible. I really do believe that socialism and progressivism are attitudes held by people who believe they know what is best for everyone else. The policies espoused by these political philosophies demonstrate a craving for power and control over the 99.9% who aren't smart enough to think for themselves. Their actions also show that the 0.01% who want to control the rest feel that they don't have to live by the standards they expect of others. Especially when it comes to living like kings and queens and expecting those not in power to live frugally and give more money to them to control.

Grandma, don't argue with fools. AU is totally involved with trying to show off his recently aquired degree. He has been fully indoctrinated with Marxist ideology by his college professors and ready to try out his wings. It appears he has as much time to waste as those of us who are retired so I doubt he has been able to parlay his new found education into getting a meanwhile job. Ignore him. He still believes in the concept of everyone getting a free lunch paid for by someone who worked harder and took risk to become successful.
