White House Inserts Obama Into Previous Presidents' Official BiographiesNo image available

commentarymagazine.com — The Heritage Foundation’s Rory Cooper tweeted that Obama had casually dropped his own name into Ronald Reagan’s official biography on www.whitehouse.gov, claiming credit for taking up the mantle of Reagan’s tax reform advocacy with his “Buffett Rule” gimmick. My first thought was, he must be joking. But he wasn’t—it turns out Obama has added bullet points bragging about his own accomplishments to the biographical sketches of every single U.S. president since Calvin Coolidge (except, for some reason, Gerald Ford). Here are a few examples:

•On Feb. 22, 1924 Calvin Coolidge became the first president to make a public radio address to the American people. President Coolidge later helped create the Federal Radio Commission, which has now evolved to become the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). President Obama became the first president to hold virtual gatherings and town halls using Twitter, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, etc.
•In a 1946 letter to the National Urban League, President Truman wrote that the government has “an obligation to see that the civil rights of every citizen are fully and equally protected.” He ended racial segregation in civil service and the armed forces in 1948. Today the Obama administration continues to strive toward upholding the civil rights of its citizens, repealing Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, allowing people of all sexual orientations to serve openly in our armed forces.
•President Lyndon Johnson signed Medicare signed (sic) into law in 1965—providing millions of elderly healthcare stability. President Obama’s historic health care reform law, the Affordable Care Act, strengthens Medicare, offers eligible seniors a range of preventive services with no cost-sharing, and provides discounts on drugs when in the coverage gap known as the “donut hole.”
•On August 14, 1935, President Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act. Today the Obama administration continues to protect seniors and ensure Social Security will be there for future generations.
•In a June 28, 1985 speech Reagan called for a fairer tax code, one where a multi-millionaire did not have a lower tax rate than his secretary. Today, President Obama is calling for the same with the Buffett Rule.

I imagine Bill Clinton will be especially receptive to Obama’s habit of shoehorning himself into the limelight previously occupied by others. As you can see, the bullet points make clear that while each president has done something historic or notable, Obama is carrying forward every one of those accomplishments since Coolidge. No wonder he always seems so proud of himself.

You get stories from the oddest sites if any site at all. It's amusing, really.

@AUpolls

My "oddest sites" can be verified. What's "amusing" is your fixing on Obama and how well he is doing.

@james2044 you create polls all the time criticizing and even going as far as defaming his name but when it comes to Romney, so far, I haven't seen one poll by you or other conservatives about his policies as the Gov. of Mass. or his time at Bain, in France as a Mormon missionary or the Olympics. In the meantime, I've put up polls ranging from issue to issue on Obama and his opponents. Why are you so focused on Obama and not also defining your candidate? 75%+ of Americans were not paying attention to the primaries. Get Smart!

@AUpolls Obama is a jerk, cannot handle his job and destroying America.

If my polls point this out, so much the better. The problem is the Media won't tell the truth about Obama or any Democrat for that matter. If the Media did half the job it should, Obama would never gotten out of IL.

It will be all but impossible to do worse than Obama.

Romney needs no defense. He has always done his best, handled impossible problems, saved jobs and did so without claiming all the credit.

I am "so focused on Obama" becuse he is trying to destroy America.

@james2044 Thanks for proving my point. You are merely out against the president not for the GOP candidate, because if you were for him you would poll things on him. In order for a candidate to win an election s/he has to not only have people who oppose his opponent but also be able to stand with his/her record, defended it (we're human beings, not God - we make mistakes and have our faults) and show it off to the opponents supporters. All of which are things you've shown me now you are not comfortable doing because you truly don't like Romney's record. I don't think Obama's done all he could do but I'm not blind-sighted by partisan hatred (if not anything else) and I can easily show off his accomplishments and find at least some good in his pitfalls to his opponent. Something you seem not to be able to do. You could really challenge us all tomorrow by putting up a poll about something truly critical of Obama (there's 3 years of easy to find stuff) from an easy site like Fox and contrast it with Romney's record on the same issue.

@AUpolls
Do it yourself. You say it's easy to do, prove it to us. Shouldn't take much time or effort according to you.
Contrast Obama's record (not words, not intentions, but real actions that became legislation or were put into action) and contrast them with Romney's record and real actions (again not words, intentions but actions that became legislation, or were acted upon). Words and intentions mean nothing when coming from a politician, it is the actions that show who they really are and what they really believe. On both sides of the aisle.

@grandmakdw So when Romney says he'll repeal ObamaCare although RomneyCare is the mother of ObamaCare that means nothing...
