clashdaily.com — The gun control debate, like all debates with the left, is reducible to the question of whether we are individuals who make our own decisions or a great squishy social mass that helplessly responds to stimuli. Do people kill with guns or does the availability of guns kill people? Do bad eating habits kill people or does the availability of junk food kill people?

To the left these are distinctions without a difference. If a thing is available then it is the cause of the problem. The individual cannot be held accountable for shooting someone if there are guns for sale. Individuals have no role to play because they are not moral actors, only members of a mob responding to stimuli.

You wouldn’t blame a dog for overeating; you blame the owners for overfeeding him. Nor do you blame a dog for biting a neighbor. You might punish him, but the punishment is training, not a recognition of authentic responsibility on the part of the canine. And the way that you think of a dog, is the way that the left thinks of you. When you misbehave, the left looks around for your owner.

The cult of the left believes that it is engaged in a great apocalyptic battle with corporations and industrialists for the ownership of the unthinking masses. Its acolytes see themselves as the individuals who have been “liberated” to think for themselves. They make choices. You however are just a member of the unthinking masses. You are not really a person, but only respond to the agendas of your corporate overlords. If you eat too much, it’s because corporations make you eat. If you kill, it’s because corporations encourage you to buy guns. You are not an individual. You are a social problem.

Individual behavior is a symptom of a social problem. Identify the social problem and you fix the behavior. The individual is nothing, the crowd is everything. Control the mass and you control the individual.

440+ School Age Children Shot in Gun-Controlled Chicago:

Chicago has been a shining city on a hill for gun-grabbers for decades. In fact, so extreme is the gun control in the Windy City that prior to the 2010 Supreme Court decision in McDonald v. Chicago, you couldn't even have a gun in your own house with which to defend yourself or your family. So in a gun-control-utopia such as this, you'd expect school-age children to be safe from all harm, if you buy into the theories of Sens. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Chuck Schumer (D-NY). Yet the truth is more than 440 school-age children have been shot in Chicago in 2012.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the new discussion concerning gun control is about semi-automatic weapons, assault guns that only have one purpose: to assault.

Concerning the poll: It is not just lunatics, it is people with guns who shoot people. I think about the father who tried to sell his gun in a shop some weeks ago who accidentally shot his son who was waiting outside. Somehow the gun went off and killed the boy. The father is no lunatic (unless you consider people who sell their guns as mad...), nevertheless, the son was dead.

I wonder what the alternative to control of assault weapons is. After every shooting, people are shocked and promise to do something about guns and all the NRA and gun owners have to offer are bits of philosophy, like, how can an inanimate object like a peaceful gun kill someone unless some - always mad, irresponsible, deluded - individual pulls the trigger. The argument is always about responsibility, until the next guy who - up until he started killing people at random - was the picture of responsibility...
Yes, controlling guns would limit some people's liberties (if it could be achieved in a working fashion, and all those shootings with legal weapons show us that control does not - currently - work), but, hey, you encounter restrictions each and every day.

That's why democrats shouldn't own a gun.

As usual the debate drawn by fire arm advocates is disingenuous because an honest debate does not bode well for them.

There is nothing honest about a dim-wit-o-crat. All lies and distortion. Most gun crimes are committed by democrats than any other because they don't know how to act in society.

If it's really to 'protect the children' as the media and our politicians continually say, then the first thing to ban is parents.

More children are injured or killed by their parents by far, than people with guns, and--by a very wide margin.

Without guns, who will protect us from 'our' government?

DHS buys 200,000 more hollow-point bullets

While the Obama administration sets out to eviscerate the gun rights of American citizens in the aftermath of Sandy Hook, earlier this week it was announced that the Department of Homeland Security has awarded a company a contract worth over $45,000 dollars to provide the DHS with 200,000 ...
