cnn.com — Sen. Hillary Clinton said Saturday "we need to do all we can" to help elect Sen. Barack Obama the next president of the United States.

"The way, the way to continue our fight now, to accomplish the goals for which we stand is to take our energy, our passions, our strengths and do all we can to help elect Barack Obama, the next president of the United States," she said of her former rival for the Democratic presidential nomination during a speech at the National Building Museum in Washington.

"Today, as I suspend my campaign, I congratulate him on the victory he has won and the extraordinary race he has run. I endorse him and throw my full support behind him. and I ask all of you to join me in working as hard for Barack Obama as you have for me."

Earlier, she said "this isn't exactly the party I planned, but I surely like the company and I want to start today by saying how grateful I am to all of you ... to all those women in their 80s and their 90s born before women who could vote who cast their votes [this year]"

"I will continue to stand strong with you ... the dreams we share are worth fighting for," she added.

Clinton's campaign tells CNN that 6,000 people signed up on the New York senator's Web site to attend the speech.

The double dealing and back door deals Obama used to win has to hurt. Public position is one thing, personal feelings are another.

Hillary and Bill Clinton owned the Democratic Party. Hillary began the contest with the advantage. I do not believe that Obama is the blame for Clinton's lose.

Hillary, Obama did not win the nomination for Presidency of the United States of America. The DNC and he stole it from you. Let it be known here and now, they will pay a "bitter" price for this move in November if you do not prevail in the end. The Democratic Party just handed the election to McCain when they hosed you over Obama. I for one woman will be voting McCain in the fall, if this incredible theft is allowed to stand. What happened to count all our votes? I cannot, even with your urging endorse this man. Now, after your campaign suspension speech the audacity of the media never ceases to amaze me. Now those arrogant @#$^$es are saying that you must get out and campaign for their golden boy. Of course you do (not), if you want a Democrat in the Whitehouse. They know he can't win without you and we all know that too. So let's go girls, let's get their poster boy elected. Yeah [W]right, when hell freezes over, I'll start. Sorry Hillary, it is you or McCain. I still say it will be you because Obama will implode before Denver. Thank God, you merely suspended your campaign.

It will take time to know how Hillary's voter will go. Most will go to Obama 60% without effort, 20% will go to McCain not matter what and the remaining 20% is what Obama will count on Hillary bring to him. This is going to be another close election that's for certain.

Senator Clinton has shown class by endorsing Senator Obama. Now it's up to her supporters endorse him as well. If they vote for McCain out of spite & lose the election in a year Democrats should easily win, the Clinton legacy they have worked so hard for will be destroyed.

Nobama will never get her supporters.
The anti nobama sites have millions of hits and there are people signing up and registering as independents.
We believe Hillary should run as an independent this year.
She has not quit, only SUSPENDED!

If the media had brought out Obama's long associations with sleazy people, Michelle's statements, and O's backroom statements about clinging to God and guns...before the elections in states had been cast...he would not have won.

I am not exactly a Hillary supporter. I have voted democrate all my life. Now I, my family, and my friends will not vote for Obama. Someone needs to be on the streets talking to grass roots American's. They will never vote for Obama. You can poll all you want, but until you see what the voters who will go to the polls in November are saying...you won't have any idea. Obama will not be our next president.

Obviously, hillary clinton supporters are very dumb. It will be almost impossible for the Demcratic party to win an election without the support of african american voters. If Hillary supporters vote for Maccain this time, they will lose african american votes for ever. This is the year the Democrats have the best chance of winning, but unfortunately, they had two really lousy candidates. Better luck next time. By the way, the Hillary chapter is over. Don't kid yourself.

It was an exceptional speech. It just will never be enough to make me vote for Obama. This man is a high risk to America. Wake up!! His change is a dangerous one...not in the best interest of Americans!!
