thinkprogress.org — Spitzer asked Paul to name specific programs he would cut from health care, Social Security, or defense. But Paul demurred, explaining that he would offer a balanced budget in the next Congress - over 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 year increments, but was still unsure of what to cut to get there. At one point, Paul even suggested that rather than pressing him for specifics, Spitzer should invite liberals and ask "how do you continue to have these programs?

Why name it now? Let the progressives stew about it until we take over and drop the cuts on top of them. There is so much money wasted in Washington by both parties that it should not be difficult to find some areas to cut. Sure, a few bureaucrats will lose their jobs, but government jobs with their bloated salaries and benefits would be a good starting point. Both sides need to quit buying votes with wasteful spending and pandering to their interest groups. The politicians need a push and maybe the new members of Congress can give them a nudge until they find out that it can actually be accomplished. Remember, these are Republicans and they have not perfected lying to the high standards of the democRAT party. As Ann Couter stated, "there are a lot of bad Rerpublicans, but there are NO good democRATs"!
