GOP Rep. falsely claims ‘revenues’ had ‘nothing’ to do with U.S. downgraderawstory.com

rawstory.com — Rep. Allen West (R-FL), a favorite among tea party Republicans, insisted Monday during an appearance on the conservative Fox News Channel that a refusal to increase government revenues through taxes had "nothing" to do with Standard & Poor's dropping America's credit rating last week.
Unfortunately for West, that's patently false, according to S&P's own press release announcing the ratings drop.

"We have changed our assumption on this because the majority of Republicans in Congress continue to resist any measure that would raise revenues, a position we believe Congress reinforced by passing the act," S&P explained.

Barack Hussein Obama could not carry Allen West's jock strap. What an effeminate man is living in the White House. We have absolutely zero Presidential leadership.

Lower tax rates equal higher revenues!

If you let the productive people keep their hard eraned money they invest it. This makes more jobs for more people. More people working means more people pay taxes equalling more revenue.

The problem is working people are not dependent on the Democrats and the Democrats cannot control them.

Boehner agreed to $800 billion in new revenue. Seeing that, the Left in Congress told Obama to raise it to $1.2 trillion. Boehner walked.

The resulting "DEAL" was created in the Democrat-led Senate. It was Harry Reid's deal. Talk to Harry if you have any complaints.

The reason for the Downgrade was the size of the Debt reduction. Additional revenue can reduce the debt but once you decide on spending cut levels the additional revenue only means you can raise the spending again.

The really interesting thing about the way Congress works is that revenue is always front-loaded while spending is back-loaded. Don't you think that's strange?

Would you estimate that roughly 70% of the voters on this site are liberals and the majority either live off the taxpayer or have government positions which is basically the same thing without the guilt attached?
