msnbc.msn.com — President Barack Obama met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday as the push to head off a Mideast diplomatic clash at the United Nations intensified.

The White House announced the late addition to Obama's schedule on Tuesday night.

Abbas is still pressing ahead with a campaign for statehood at the U.N. despite intense U.S. efforts to forge a diplomatic solution that would avoid a vote in the U.N. Security Council. Obama's administration has pledged to veto such a move and is working to get Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu back into direct peace talks instead.

Abbas met in New York Tuesday with French President Nicolas Sarkozy, whose country has Europe's largest Muslim population, as he sought support ahead of his General Assembly speech on Friday, when he has vowed to formally request U.N. membership.

@HStern Sure. Israel (our closest ally) has always wanted to live in peace while palistine is causing chaos and terror. They do not deserve to have a statehood in the UN. Terrorists deserve NOTHING!!! All the other psychos in the area want to wipe Israel off the face of the earth. If it wasn't for us, Israel would have blown all of the terrorist back to allah. We need to get out of the way of Israel so they can take care of business. If you can't understand that, I feel sorry for you

Democrats have been moving to an anti-Israel position for years. Obama has speed the process up being Pro-Islam. The Left voted "Yes" as they follow the party line in this as in everything else.

Lightdude, you have it nailed. The Middle East would make a great landing strip, but other than Israel there is not much else to admire. Howard Stern? Credibility? Not that I have ever witnessed and has as little class as his/her namesake.
