Dems endorse Occupy Wall Street in drovesrawstory.com

rawstory.com — As labor unions flocked to their side Wednesday for a massive demonstration in New York City, Occupy Wall Street picked up some fresh political capital with prominent Democrats, and they’re not ashamed to say it.

Speaking to The National Memo this week, former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean (D) and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) made supportive comments. They were joined by Reps. Raul Grijalva (D-AZ), Keith Ellison (D-MN) and fourth-ranking House Democrat John Larson, whoissued similar statements of support.

So too did Eliot Spitzer, the disgraced former Democratic governor of New York whose aggressive stance toward the banking sector was a hallmark of his political record. Former Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI), similarly, tossed his hat in with the Occupy Wall Street protesters, saying it will “make the tea party look like a tea party.”

It's not a hypothetical: choosing is now mandatory.

Choose Tea Party and future generations will live free in America. Choose the Pot Party and we'll all be MUNCHING AWAY as our freedoms are TAKEN AWAY, one by one!

Isn't it funny how a few hundred Leftist "occupiers" garner the attention of a handful of Socialist politicians along with the Leftist Media while a few hundred thousand Tea Partiers were considered a small number of Racists to the same politicians and media?

America wake up. As we used to say when I was a kid, you are being chumped!

Why is it the Tea Party thinks they represent the majority? Is it because they yell the loudest, bully people and just don't understand most people do not agree with their extreme ideas? They sit in these echo chambers and think because everyone they talk to agrees the majority o people do. Get out and talk to real people and listen to them without yelling or calling names when they talk or post her. The Tea Party won a few seats in congress because the left pushed to far the other way now they think they are the majority. They keep standing in the way of progress they will push us to far Left again. Even in forums like this where they are very active, and the majority in the center do not participate nearly as much. they can not win there own self serving non scientific polls. They do not understand math or science and if people or the media do not agree they believe there is a conspiracy because they are so sure their way is the only way so the majority must agree. They call any one in the center communist? Neither the far right or far left get it. It is time for the reasonable people in the center to take back control and start their own movement, demanding the politicians work together, disclose the source of their funds and sign the politicians pledge The people in the center need to form their own grassroots movement and demand sane and equal representation for all. If you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem. . If you want to be part of the solution check out the pledge at http://truefiscalconservative.blogspot.com/p/pledg... If we all sign the citizen pledge, it will force the politicians to sign the politician pledge and we the people will get the country back on the right track by forcing both sides to come together.

The Tea Party is Conservative. That means they want to sustain those principles that made America great, including a Constitution that was so forward thinking that it was written with built-in processes for self-improvement such as extending voting rights and eliminating Slavery. Liberals want to "TRY SOMETHING NEW" at the expense of all Americans. But realizing that what they want isn’t acceptable to most Americans they refuse to make the changes through the Constitution’s amendment process.

Dear Mr. Fiscal Conservative

The Tea Party is representative of the majority and that's why so many staunch Conservatives were elected to the Congress in 2010. The people opposing the Leftist agenda of the Liberal Senate and the White House are simply protecting the wishes of their constituents

If you think the OWS is in the center you must have been born in Russia, China or Cuba!

If you say they are grassroots you're a liar.

Ther Left is un-American so there is no "coming together"

I know the OWS is from the left just like the tea party is from the right. I am for people looking at both side and moving toward something that will work with out being at either extreme. What is un-American is calling people names you don't agree with. What is not good for American is an attitude of my way or no way regardless of consequences. I look at the facts and simply asked a question. You think you are in the majority despite the polls to the contrary. The far right congress has an even worse approval than the President. Keeping thinking it is a conspiracy and is just make more people realize how out of touch the movement is. It is the familiar to compromise that causes these swings to the extreme. Ronald Regan would have jumped at chance to have 1/3 revenue increase for 2/3 spending cuts and he was one of the most conservative presidents. But he was realistic about what could pass and what the majority would accept. You call me a liberal because you don;t agree with me. I have voted for people from both parties. I voted for Regan the first time. You think anyone that does not agree with you is a liberal and that is where you are wrong. I was for getting rid of our deficit all my life. It is Johny come lately crowd that refuses to accept that we had a surplus for a short time before the most recent tax cuts. I don't care who get the credit for that, congress. Clinton a booming economy. We should have never cut taxes until we paid off our accumulated debt. If you are really for taking care of our debt where were you when that decision was made. For those that want smaller government I am okay with that if you can get the votes to support it buy you don't cut the revenue stream prior to cutting the spending stream. What is un-American is forgetting that majority rules and you simply don't have a majority of people supporting many of the spending cuts you want. Read my blog, the far right will end up with little of what they want if they continue to hold out for everything they want. 70% of Americans agree with raising taxes on the wealthy and it will happen automatically if they don't compromise. Yet the far right are against this and think they are in the majority.

@minoriabc or Hank or whatever

The Right wants to continue the evolution of the America of the Founding Fathers. The Left wants Progressivism, which nothing more than the non-violent implementation of Communism.

There can be no compromise between the Left and the Right!

The Tea Party wants a country where those unable to care for themselves are taken care of by the society, not those who refuse to work for $7 an hour. When that happens, then 2% of the population will be on welfare, not 50%

We want a country that tells its government what to do not the other way around.

We want a government that adheres to the law of the land - the Constitution!

We want a country where politicians are citizens, not better than citizens.

We want a country that values free markets and individual achievement.

We want a country where there is a guarantee of equal opportunity, not equal results.

These are requirements of all Americans but will never be agreed to by the Left. You seem to have the misguided belief that the Left and the Right are two ends of a continuum. Wrong! The Left is un-American and must be driven out of our politics - by peaceful means - within the constraints of the Constitution.

Thats why, unlike the OWS, the Tea Party is peaceful and law abiding... and Right!

BTW, I didn't call you a Liberal, I called you a Socialist and so did significantly more than 50% of the people who voted in the poll about your Blog.

@minoriabc Hey Van Jones (communist) First of all, the TEA party is NOT right or left. It's a mixture of all people left, right, middle and doesn't matter who or what color you are. Second, like I said before, stop getting your "information" from PMSnbc or the leftest place you are getting your "polls." Why the congress approval is so low is because of what the left in congress is doing. Not the right. Dude, your facts are all screwed up.

I would not call 5% significant especially in a non scientific poll on a site dominated by the far right. But I don't argue with people that know it all and have to result to labels instead of facts or people that think things are true because they say it often enough. That some how think life was better 250 years ago and want to go back that time. The country and world have changed. Not everything that worked 250 years ago will work now, but keep living in your fantasy world and thinking you are the majority. It will cause the Republicans to loose the next election and swing us to far left again. While I admire the zeal and the fanatical involvement of the Tea Party, it is their inability to realize the the vast majority of Americans are not as willing to dial things as far back as they want to go.that will cause us to go father left than we need to.I would like to say lets just agree to disagree but unfortunately I know your type can't accept that anyone disagrees with you or that compromise was one of the bedrock principals on which are county was founded and built.

@minoriabc

See, you really don't get it. Nobody wants to go back 250 years to the life of the Founders. Like today, they were people who vehemently disagreed with each other on many philosophical issues. They wrote the Constitution to prevent those with whom they had strong disagreements on either side from controlling the course of the Nation.

This is the fundamental issue that the Left despises most. They can’t easily change how things work. They need Constitutional Amendments to achieve their ends. That could take years and in the end may not produce the desired results. But that was the beauty of the Constitution.

Until the American People evolved to the point that the vast majority uniformly despised Slavery, it was not eliminated.

Until the vast majority uniformly supported the extension of voting rights to all Americans it didn’t happen.

Until the vast majority uniformly supported the legalization of Abortion… oops, that was a minority on the Left that ignored the Constitution and created law in the Judiciary.

Well, real Americans want the Constitution back. We want it to determine the validity of the laws we pass. We don’t want Republicans or Democrats to bypass its controls. We want a return to the use of the Constitution to provide protections for individuals and tools for its adaptation based on the will of Free People.

It’s not the world of 250 years ago that we defend; it’s the human and governmental principles that we want preserve.

@minoriabc Dude! You are smoking too much dope. Put the pipe DOWN! You really don't know what reality really is. Why don't you head to Wall st. with all your hippie friends, don't take a shower for a month and forget what you are protesting.

To quote Ronald Wilson Reagan, How do you tell a Communist? Well, it's someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It's someone who understands Marx and Lenin.

They are the ones protesting currently on Wall Street. I refer to the commies and the new hippies.
